Tools that we use, should be used correctly. The tools
for maintaining and repairing our vehicles are sometimes
misused. Some common tools associated in repairing an motor
vehicle will be discussed in this article.
A Hammer, which was used as a weapon of war in days gone
by, is now a tool for striking and thereby applying
needed repair to any part of an automobile that doesn't
do what we think it should do. A Utility Knife is used
to open any cardboard box or plastic container that
contains other tools and spare parts for repairing the car.
A Cordless Drill is used to create holes in many parts of
the vehicle, too large to insert the steel pop rivet, or
to make holes more specifically in the floor of cars next
to, and usually through the brake line that goes to the
rear brake cylinder of the car.
A hacksaw is the common tool which works on the principle
of Ouija board. It can convert human force into a crooked
and unpredictable motion to cut an object. Aviation metal
snips are the tools which work on the same principle of
hacksaw and used to cut metals.
Vise-grips are used to make the bolt head of a part into a
rounded off head. They can transfer intense heat to the
user~s palm. Oxyacetelene torches are the tools used for
lighting the covert cigarette in closed garage, they are
similar to a Zippo lighter. Whitworth sockets are those
tools which were used in older British cars and
motorcycles. Now they are using for hiding old Salems.
The Drill Press is a tall motorized machine useful for
grasping any flat metal bar away from your grip and
smacking the free end into your chest. Tweezers are the
precision device that is used to remove wood splinters.
The Wire Wheel is used to remove fingerprint whorls and
calluses while fixing a car (see Microdermabrasion for
the hands).
The Hydraulic Floor Jack is a device which is used to
lower a Mustang to the ground just after you have
installed a Ford performance rear end. An ninety six inch
long Douglas fir 2X4 is the tool used to direct a car in
an upward direction and is often used with the hydraulic
floor jack. Tweezers, are the tools specially
used for removing Douglas fir splinters
(see also Band-aids). A Cellular Telephone is a special
tool for calling your neighbor to bring his hydraulic
floor jack, to remove the Douglas fir 2x4.
A snap-on gasket scraper is used as a sandwich tool for
spreading mayonnaise. A timing light is a useful tool for
illuminating grease buildup on your crankshaft pulleys.
A handy two-ton hydraulic engine hoist is for checking the
tensile power of ground straps and is used to cut the lines
that you may have forgotten to disconnect.
The battery electrolyte tester is used to deliver the
sulfuric acid from the battery of the car to the inside of
your toolbox.A trouble light is used for to producing
light which are good source of vitamin D in the car at
night or dark. A phillips Screwdriver is used in the
opening of lids of old style, paper-and-tin, oil cans.
Despite any humor, using tools is what maker us different
from the animal kingdom. Using the right tool, for the
job, will greatly help us get the desired result. Weather
it is auto repair, home repair, or building the space
shuttle, Tools, used correctly, will keep machines
working. And used incorrectly will keep our lives ...
interesting.
