All About Air Guns

Airguns have recently skyrocketed in popularity, thanks
largely to the ever-increasing interest in paintballing.
There are several types of airguns on the market today,
though, and you want to be sure that the airgun you purchase
is appropriate for the activity you'll be using it for.
The technology behind the working of air guns involves
compressed air or other type of gas to propel pellets, bb's,
and similar kinds of ammunition. Most air guns are
low-powered for safety reasons. However, there are more
high-powered air guns also that have been used for military
and hunting events. High-powered air guns are extremely
accurate and are used in the Olympic sharpshooting events.
Nevertheless, these high-powered air guns are not usually
the best type of air guns for normal air gun activities.
The most commonly used air gun is the multi-stroke, more
commonly known as pump up. In order to propel the pellet
from the barrel of the air gun the pump-up guns need several
"pumps". These guns are lightweight and relatively smaller.
They have moderate power and don't retreat back much.
However, the drawback of these guns is that they require a
lot of time and energy to hit the target and they don't have
a great accuracy. A multi-stroke gun might not be the best
option for those looking for a gun with a high accuracy.
Single-stroke airguns, which only need a single pump to get
the proper amount of air, deliver a high degree of
accuracy. These airguns are also more consistent than the
pump-up variety. Plus, recoil isn't a problem with single-
stroke airguns. The drawback to single-stroke airguns is
they don't provide a lot of power, which doesn't make them
good choices for hunting activities. Many people, however,
feel the high accuracy of single-stroke airguns makes up
for the lack of power.
The pre-charged air guns offer both high accuracy and high
power. They combine the advantages of the single and
multi-stroke air guns. Pre-charged air guns require very
little effort to get the necessary air because it comes from
a scuba tank. A special hose that has a pressure gauge is
used to siphon the compressed air from scuba tanks into the
air guns. Pre-charged air guns are good for hunting also
because they deliver multiple shots, plus, there's also
little recoil associated with these air guns. Thus,
pre-charged air guns are a good choice for a variety of air
gun activities.
